Lympstone Manor, Exmouth

Grade II listed Georgian manor house Lympstone Manor overlooking the Exe Estuary is a fine dining restaurant and country house hotel run by Chef/Patron Michael Caines MBE. Michael Caines made his name at Gidleigh Park where he achieved two Michelin stars for eighteen years, moving on to Lympstone Manor where he won his first Michelin Star just six months after opening.
There are three dining rooms at Lympstone Manor, the luxurious Powderham, the intimate Mamhead, which is ideal for private dining and Berry Head, with views down the coast and across Lyme Bay. Menus include a set lunch menu, an a la carte, the Estuary Tasting menu, the Signature Tasting menu and a Vegan and Vegetarian option – all are subject to change on a regular basis as the kitchen always source ingredients that are fresh, local and seasonal.

The Masons Arms, Knowstone

Set in a picture-postcard thatched cottage in the village of Knowstone on the edge of Exmoor, The Masons Arms is a 13th Century Inn and Michelin Star Restaurant started by Mark & Sarah Dodson in 2005.
Chef Mark Dodson achieved a Michelin Star just a year after opening and has retained it every year since with creative, seasonal food focussing on local produce. There’s a constantly changing à la carte menu, a three course Sunday lunch menu and a brilliantly priced two course lunch menu for just £23.50 or a three course lunch menu for £27.50.

The Elephant Restaurant, Torquay

Overlooking Torquay harbour, The Elephant Restaurant is a relaxed, informal seaside restaurant owned and run by Simon and Katy Hulstone. Simon Hulstone started cooking young and went on to win many awards including the Roux Scholarship before winning and holding a Michelin Star for The Elephant for 14 years.
With a frequently changing menu and a focus on seasonality there’s a choice of either the à la carte or the tasting menu in the evening or an incredibly good value set lunch menu which starts at just £21.50 for two courses – there’s also a kids menu for the aspiring Chefs in the family!

Thomas Carr at the Olive Room, Ilfracombe

Thomas Carr is a native of Devon (born and raised in Woolacombe and Ilfracombe), who trained under Nathan Outlaw in Cornwall, rising to Head Chef and achieving two Michelin stars before returning to Devon to work as an Executive Chef for Michael Caines at The Coach House, Kentisbury Grange.
Thomas Carr at The Olive Room opened it’s doors in 2014 going on to win a Michelin Star in 2017 for the cooking of ultra-fresh seafood where dishes are only confirmed once the fishing boat returns with the days catch.
Gidleigh Park, Chagford

It’s been all change at Gidleigh Park recently with Michael Caines leaving to start Lympstone Manor and Chris Eden arriving in September 2019 from Driftwood in Cornwall after 12 years as Head Chef there. Born and bred in Cornwall, Chris learned his trade in the south west and then at The Lanesborough, The Orrery and The Square in London, before starting at Driftwood in 2007, going on to win a Michelin Star in 2012.
Situated in stunning grounds about 30 minutes from Exeter, Gidleigh Park is also an award-wining luxury five star hotel with the Michelin Starred restaurant offering an a la carte menu, a seven course tasting menu and a seven course vegetarian tasting menu at both lunch and dinner.
